St. Mary’s Community Nursery School, Chester
Welcome to St Mary’s! There is nothing more special than those first experiences of school. Making friends, exploring new ideas and trying things you’ve never seen before. Here at St Mary’s we know how important it is for children to feel safe, to feel valued, to feel encouraged and to feel they belong. We see our children run in every morning keen to see what the day holds and equally happy at home time ready to meet Mum (or dad or Nan!) and share their news.
Every child is unique and so are we. As the only state maintained Nursery school in Cheshire West and Chester we hold a very special position specialising in the education of 3 and 4 year olds.
We have a headteacher, teachers and teaching assistants all working with the children daily. All are highly experienced and qualified. We also have a specialist Speech and Language Assistant who works with the children to meet their needs. Together this strong staff team create an exciting and ever changing learning environment. It stretches over three large areas - indoors and out - with many purpose built and some highly creative play opportunities. We have fun learning and find enjoyment in everything we do.
We know that happy children become confident independent learners. Given the right opportunities at the right time and the skilled support of an adult they will flourish. Our children learn to do it, make it, solve it… and do it all again! They learn to ask questions, make choices, they learn to have a go and not give up even when it gets tricky!
Today we have been playing with some old bike wheels. We have rolled them, spun them, tried to catch them. Many of the children have bikes...
Last week we made our ‘Saucepan Wall’ for music making. We had a great time. We also made a lot of noise! What really interested the children...
